A mermaid sculpture caught my attention during my last visit to Tampa Bay History Musium this year. I decided to make a painting of it in honor to the unknown local artists who create it. Because both artists and art are so often forgotten. The mermaid sculpture was located at Seabreeze Restaurant at 3409 Causeway blvd, Tampa FL. This restaurant opened in 1932 was famous for its devil crabs. From 1970-2000 it was also known for its mermaid sculpture that was in front of the restaurant near Tampa’s shrimp docks.
